Lok Ayukta conducts public grievance redressal meet in Mysore

Mysore, Sep 12 (UNI) Karnataka Lok Ayukta Mr Justice Santhosh Hegde, who is in the city for the first time after assuming office, conducted a public grievance redressal meeting here today.

The Lok Ayukta, along with Deputy Lok Ayukta Pathri Basavanna Goud, heard the complaints, solved three cases on the spot and obtained assurances from the officials concerned to render justice to the complainants.

About 100 complaints were received and they were heard in the presence of the complainants and the heads of the various Government departments.

Later, speaking to newspersons here, Mr Justice Hegde said the Lok Ayukta had sought more powers from the State Government and the proposals were expected to be discussed at the next Cabinet meeting.

He exuded confidence that the proposals would be agreed by the Government.

He said that though he looked soft, he would follow in the footsteps of his predecessor Mr Justice N Venkatachala, who launched a crusade against corrupt practices during his tenure.

Expressing happiness over today's grievance meeting, he said such meets would be conducted in other districts too.
