Inspector, SI suspended from service

Mangalore, Sep 12 (UNI) A police Inspector and a Sub-Inspector have been suspended from service on the charge of dereliction of duty.

IGP (Western range) S N Rao issued suspension orders to Anti-Rowdy Squad chief and Bunder police station Inspector Vinay Gaokar and Barke police station Sub-Inspector Pavan Kumar after a departmental inquiry proved the charges against the officials in connection with the alleged arrest of an innocent person in a property dispute.

The case pertained to the arrest of one Ronald Gilbert on the charge of forging the signature of Shiva Prakash Swamiji of Gurupura Jangama Mutt near here in connection with a property row. The arrested had complained to the Home Minister and senior police officials, stating that he was innocent and his arrest was illegal, following which the departmental inquiry was ordered, a senior police official said.
