India in touch with Sri Lankan govt: Manmohan
On Board Air India One, Sep 12: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said India was in touch with the Sri Lankan government in an effort to help find a lasting solution to the ethnic conflict in the island nation.
''We are also in contact with the facilitators (of the talks between the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE)--the Norwegians,'' he told journalists accompanying him on a visit to Brazil and Cuba.
Dr Singh said India's effort was to ensure that the ceasefire between the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE held and that both parties remained ''scrupulously committed'' to preserving the ceasefire.
''I think that is an essential pre-requisite before we can move forward to a durable solution,'' he added.
