New Delhi, Sep 12 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will visit Helsinki next month for the India-EU summit, which will consider ways to further enhance relations between the two sides in economic, cultural and political fields, said Finnish Ambassador Asko Numminen here today.

Mr Numminen said there will be discussions on trade and investments in the one-day summit, as India is playing a bilateral role in science and technology.

''India's involvement in Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) is very important politically, economically and culturally and it will make a very important contribution,'' the Finland Ambassador told reporters at a press conference on further enlargement of ASEM.

Mr Numminen said India and EU had already discussed on supply of energy and various aspects of sustainable energies like reusable energies in the summit held last year and there is reference of nuclear energy also. He said Finland is the only country of EU which is now setting up a nuclear plant.

''We are very glad that Indian companies are interested in EU countries and exports from India to Finland will bring a better trade relationship,'' he said.

On the enlargement of ASEM, EU is looking forward for India to play a great role amongst the member countries although it will take some time for India to become a member but it will prove fruitful, he added.

European Commission Head of Delegation Francisco da Camara Gomes who was also present in the conference said, ''India would stand as a strong partner in this forum.'' UNI SRS PV DS1546
