Hunt on to nab ''razor man'' in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 12 (UNI) Police have launched a massive hunt to arrest the ''razor man'' who slit throats of several children in many areas of Srinagar city yesterday, triggering panic among parents.

Sources said a sketch of the ''razor man'' was being prepared and it would soon be displayed at all places in the city.

They said the description of the person had been given to all police units in the city.

The ''razor man'', believed to be a mentally deranged person, had attacked eight-year-old Mubarak Ahmed Shah, a student of Gousia Public School, Khanyar in the downtown city, with a razor.

He slashed the child's neck, wounding him seriously. Shah was immediately rushed to the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital at Rainawari here where his condition was now stated to be out of danger. He had eight stitches on his throat.

He then attacked a nine-year-old boy, Yasir Iqbal, a resident of Kalashpora in the downtown city, and slit his throat.

Iqbal was admitted to the Sri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital here in a critical condition.

Police had said the ''razor man'' was 5 ft 9 inches tall, in his 20s and may be insane.

Police have registered a case and launched investigations.
