Four Assam Rifles jawans killed in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 12 (UNI) Four Assam Rifles personnel were killed and two injured in an encounter with suspected militants near Oksu here today, police said.

The ultras opened indiscriminate fire when the jawans were moving in a convoy on the main road, they said.

The jawans also retaliated. In the ensuing encounter, four personnel were killed and two injured.

The injured were now undergoing treatment at Leimakhong military hospital.

Senior Assam Rifles and police officials rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

A massive search operation was on by a combined force to nab the militant.
