FIR against BJP MP for slapping a man

Bolangir, Sep 12(UNI) Police today registered a case against BJP MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo on charges of assaulting a man at Chandatara village, about 90 km from here, a senior official said.

One Bikram Singh Bhoi had lodged a complain with Sindhikela police station alleging the BJP leader had slapped him yeasterday when he inquired about the fate of villegers' applications to her for her MPLAD funds for a temple.

''I had slapped no one. It is a move to defame me before the upcoming panchayat elections,'' clarified Ms Singh Deo, who represented Bolangir to Lok Sabha since her political debut in late 90s.

Superintendent of Police Narasingha Bhol confirmed that the case had been registered against the MP and a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ranjan Behera, had been entrusted with the inquiry.
