Employment guarantee scheme by CM
Hyderabad, Sep 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced Chief Minister's Employment Guarantee Programme (CMEGP), the state level employment guarantee programme, which would be implemented in three drought prone districts in the state.
According to an official release here, Dr Reddy said the scheme would be implemented in 65 mandals of Prakasham, Kurnool and Guntur districts.
He said 590 mandals were facing deficient rainfall, 60 mandals scanty rainfall, while 303 mandals were under agricultural stress as on date.
Stating that the government had granted Rs 2.06 crore for fodder seed supply at 75 per cent subsidy, the Chief Minister asked the department concerned to take up fodder growing and fodder seed supply in a big way, involving ''Vanasamrakshana Samithis.'' He also stressed the need for close monitoring of drinking water position in rural and urban areas of the state.
Dr Reddy said a video conference with the District Collectors on the latest drought situation would be held on September 13.
