Patna, Sep 12 (UNI) Patna High Court today directed the state government to ensure speedy trial of the cases against controversial RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin through video conferencing.

A single bench of Justice V N Sinha issued directive to the government when state Advocate General P K Sahi failed to present 'satisfactory' reply to a query of the court about the status of the trial of cases against the MP.

The MP is currently undergoing treatment in All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS).

Earlier Mr Sahi submitted before the court that arrangements were being rpt were being made to expedite the trial of Shahabuddin's cases through video conferencing.

Taking exception of the failure of the AIIMS to send a report on health of Mohammad Shahabuddin to the court within two weeks of his admission in the hospital, Justice Sinha directed the AIIMS director to explain his position before the court in this regard.

The MP has been admitted to AIIMS on the directive of the Patna High Court for specialised treatment of his spinal cord problem.

The court had directed the AIIMS director to file a health report within two weeks and urged the state government to make arrangements for speedy trial of the cases through video conferencing if the treatment was prolonged for more than thirty days.
