Centre to write off agricultural loan: Pawar

Sulthanbattery, Kerala, Sep 12 (UNI) The Centre would write off agricultural loans taken by farmers, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar said today.

Talking to newspersons after receiving representations from the families of debt-ridden farmers, who have committed suicide in Wynad district, he said the Goverment would take steps to control the activities of private financial institutions.

The Government would consider a special package for the farmers in Kerala similar to that of Vidharba region, after studying in detail, the agrarian situation in the state, Mr Pawar added.
