Centre ready for CBI probe into Prof Sabharwal's death:Jaiswal
Bhopal, Sep 12 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Shriprakash Jaiswal today said the Centre is ready for CBI inquiry into Ujjain's Madhav College Professor H S Sabharwal's death in student violence.
Mr Jaiswal, who is visiting flood-affected areas of the state along with Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachouri, told UNI here that the academic world was in state of shock after the incident.
On allegations and counter-allegations between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress over the issue, he said politics should not be played over the issue.
Rejecting allegations of inadequate relief for flood-affected, he said the Centre had gone beyond set parameters to provide assistance.
Mr Jaiswal claimed that the calamity fund meant for next financial year was also released to enable the government to deal with the situation.
He said the sit-in staged by BJP MPs in New Delhi over the issue was politically motivated.
Welcoming the spontaneous anti-naxalite 'Salwa Judum' in Chhattisgarh, the Minister took a dig at the government for failing to discharge its responsibility to protect people.
Expressing concern over rising incidents of terrorism in the country, he underscored the need for restructuring and strengthening intelligence agencies.
