'Bandh' to condemn Malegaon blasts turns violent

Akola (Maharashtra), Sep 12: A ''bandh'' was observed here today to condemn the Malegaon blasts.

Stray cases of stone pelting were reported during the ''bandh'' in which five people were injured, police said. Two of the injured had to be admitted to the hospital, police said, adding that two persons have been arrested in connection with the violence.

Police had to resort to a mild cane charge to disperse an unruly mob which was involved in stone pelting.

Kachhi Masjid head Abdul Rashid Karanjavi Rizvi, while addressing a congregation, urged the Muslims to maintain peace.
