Bhopal, Sep 12 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government today decided to relax the ban on setting up new power loom industries outside 8 km radius from the limits of Burhanpur municipal corporation.

The decision taken by the cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today aims at strengthening the power loom sector and to check pollution, says an offical release.

The state's industrial policy contains a clause that small scale industries located within a radius of 8 km from the limits of a city would not be eligible for capital investment grant.

This condition was relaxed to facilitate setting up power looms based on latest technology in Burhanpur as the geographical position of the city was different from other cities and Maharashtra border was only 7 Km from the city.

The relaxation would be applicable only to the powerlooms based on latest technology. However, powerlooms based on latest technology would not be transferred to Maharashtra from Burhanpur.
