APEDA in JV for perishable commodity complex in Haldia
Kolkata, Sep 12 (UNI) The Agriculture and Processed Food Products Exports Development Authority (APEDA) in collaboration with the West Bengal government would set up a perishable commodity storage facility at the Haldia port.
APEDA has asked for about two acres of land from Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) for the proposed facility, which would have modern cold storage facilities, KoPT chairman A K Chanda said.
KoPT would act as a facilitator for the complex, which would help in export of perishable commodities through the port, Mr Chanda said in the sidelines of a CII sponsored seminar on "Logistics-East".
Dr Chanda said during the meeting with the APEDA chairman he has asked the APEDA chairman to set up a similar facility at Kolkata to enable export of perishable goods from the state.
