Amarinder predicts Congress victory in Punjab assembly polls

Sri Hargobindpur, Gurdaspur, Sep 12 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today arrested that the Congress party would win the forthcoming Assembly elections on the poll plank of performance and development.

Addressing a public rally here he said that the Congress was the only party that could ensure overall development and prosperity in the state due to its progressive and visionary policies, which were aimed at the welfare of all sections of society. He claimed that the position of his party was strong enough as the masses had acknowledged the pro-people and development oriented programmes of the government.

Claiming the Akalis had no political agenda to pursue their election campaign and were indulging in mudslinging, Capt Singh appealed to the people not to be misled by the false and malicious propoganda of Shiromani Akali Dal President Parkash Singh Badal.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced a degree college world be set up at Sri Hargobindpur besides a sports stadium after the name of Bhagat Namdev and a 66 KV new sub station at village Ghuman.

He also announced a grant of Rs three crore for the execution of various development works in the Hargobindpur constituency and handed over a cheque of Rs 38.63 lakh to Mr Fateh Jang Singh Bajwa for the provision of latrines to the Dalits under Rajiv Gandhi Kalyan Yojana.
