1,000 KVs On Way: Arjun
New Delhi, Sep 12 (UNI) A thousand more Kendriya Vidyalayas are to be opened under the 11th Five Year Plan, the Human Resource Development Ministry reported today.
A Ministry statement said the announcement was made by HRD Minister and KV Sangathan Chairman Arjun Singh while giving away awards to KV teachers yesterday.
Singh said the opening of 1000 KVs was in the pipeline in the 11th Plan.
As many as 48 KV teachers were presented with Incentive Awards and another 14 have won National Awards and 46 of the honorees are women.
Singh said those figures made it plain that the KVSs march towards empowerment of women was no mirage, but a reality.
He suggested giving Incentive Awards to KVs' non-teaching staff as well.
HRD Secretary for School Education and Literacy Champak Chatterjee said the coming decade would be the decade of Secondary education in which the KVs will help set the pace.
