War like stores, including grenades, explosives recovered in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 11 (UNI) Troops have recovered a war like stores, including hundreds of grenades, detonators, explosives and other arms and ammunition near the Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district of Kupwara, a Defence Ministry spokesman said.

He said troops on a specific information launched a search operation at Muthul Nala near the LoC in Machil sector early this morning.

After a long search of the area, mostly dense forest, troops finally unearthed three hideouts where arms and ammunition were dumped by the militants.

The arms and ammunition recovered included 429 detonators of different types, two AK rifle, ten kg explosives, three UBGL, 161 UBGL grenades, 22 Anti Tank grenades, seven hand grenades, two 107 RCL bombs, six IED boxes and 1300 rounds of ammunition.

He said the arms and ammunition was in the hideouts to be used in the winter by the militants against security forces in north Kashmir.

However, no one was arrested, he said.
