Urdu poet Saeed Khan dead

Bhopal, Sep 11 (UNI) Eminent Urdu poet Saeed Khan, who passed away here last night following prolonged illness, was buried at the Mangalwara Cantonment graveyard this morning.

He was 83.

Khan is survived by three sons and four daughters. Among the honours conferred on him during his lifetime were the Madhya Pradesh government's Iqbal award and the Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy's Mir Taki Mir.

Expressing grief, Academy Bashir Badra said, ''he was of the eminence of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Ali Sardar Jafri and Majrooh Sultanpuri.'' UNI SD-AC SP BD1553
