State government found wanting in relief work: Kalla

Jaipur, Sep 11 (UNI) Rajasthan Pradesh Congress president BD Kalla accused the state government of 'incompetancy and administrative apathy' in delivering relief to the flood-affected people in Jaisalmer and Barmer districts.

He demanded that all affected families be considered as BPL and houses be reconstrcuted under the Indira Awas Yogana.

Addressing a press conference here today after visiting the two districts, he said even after three weeks of the flood in the state, the affected people were not provided with safe drinking water and temporary accomodation in many places.

He said in Gala ki Basti in Jaisalmer district, the people had to drink contaminated water with animal carcases and no temporary accommodation was-provided to house people whose houses had collapsed.

Mr Kalla said there were complaints from the people of corruption in the distribution of compensation.

He lauded the service rendered by the NGOs in providing relief to the people while said the state government found wanting in relief work.
