Soymeal export grows by 94% in August'06

Indore, Sep 11 (UNI) Soymeal export stood at 2.29 lakh tonnes in August this year as against 1.18 lakh tonnes during the same period last year, registering a growth of 94.06 per cent.

Total exports of soybean meal during April-August in 2006 rose by 79.71 per cent at 11.52 lakh tonnes as against 6.41 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year.

The export figures on the oil year (October-September) basis showed a commendable performance with exports during October'05 to August'06 touching 39.01 lakh tonnes as compared to 18 lakh tonnes during the same period last year, registering a 116.72 per cent growth, Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) Chairman Rajesh Agrawal said here.

The data, collected and compiled by SOPA, was based on the information received from SOPA members, port authorities and other agencies, an official statement said.
