SEZ will be set up in Gangavaram: YSR
Visakhapatnam, Sep 11 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said Visakhapatnam would witness a phenominal growth in the industrial sector.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) would be set up on 800 acres at Gangavaram in this district.
The SEZ was expected to provide jobs to 60,000 women in the next three years, he said adding that Srilanka-based Brandex garments company and a government export unit would come up in the district.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today with the Brandex company on training and employemnt generation, Dr Reddy said adding that he had personally handed over appontment orders to some youth in this regard. The constuction work of the company would start in December this year.
An apparel park to be set up here would provide 30,000 jobs in the next four years, the Chief Minister said adding that US-based J S Benny and some other foreign companies were coming forward to enter the apparel market here.
Referring to Polavaram and Puclichintala irrigation projects, the Chief Minister said the government would get the clearance from the Centre soon.
Asserting that the government was committed to complete the projects, Dr Reddy charged the opposition parties with politicising the issue, instigating the displaced people and creating hurdles for effective implementation of the 'Jalayagnam' scheme.
