Seven killed in accident in Punjab

Gurdaspur, Sep 11 (UNI) Seven passengers were killed and 14 others injured when the bus in which they were travelling collided head-on with an oncoming truck near Jhako Lari village on Amritsar-Pathankot highway this morning, police said.

The bus belonging to the state roadways was on its way to Amritsar from Pathankot when the accident happened. While four people died on the spot, the other three died on their way to hospital.

The injured were admitted to the civil hospital at Pathankot.

The accident occurred when the bus was overtaking another vehicle on a bridge and rammed into the truck.

The deceased were identified as Devraj Bhatia, Suman, Ankut, Paras Ram, Romika and Tilak Raj, all residents of Pathankot, and Sumit Singh, a resident of Dhariwal.
