MPHC permits Board to fix DMET retest date

Jabalpur, Sep 11 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today permitted the Professional Examinations Board to fix a date, by September 14, for retest of applicants for the Dental and Medical Entrance Test to the state's private colleges in the wake of the Justice Chandra Bhushan Committee scrapping the previous exam.

Chief Jusitce Anang Kumar Pattnaik and Justice Suresh Chandra Sinho heard a plea by Indore's Sanjay Patni and others who challenged the Committee's order. The bench accepted the Advocate-General's appeal in this regard.

Petitioners' Counsel N S Kale submitted that a private dental and medical colleges' association conducted the test on August 13 as per Supreme Court guidelines.

''However, the Committee cancelled the exam on August 19 following complaints,'' he added.

Arguing on behalf of intervenor ABVP, advocates Sunil Gupta and Purushendra Kaurav submitted that September 30 was the last date for admission in the colleges concerned.
