Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Sep 11 (UNI) Tata Football Academy, Jamshedpur and Mohun Bagan Football Academy, Kolkata registered impressive victories in the quarterfinal matches of the all-India Mayors Trophy football tournament at the MGM ground here this evening.

In the first last eight match, Bagan scored a convincing 3-0 victory over UP XI, while in the second action TFA ended Indian Air Force's (Delhi) run with a 4-2 triumph.

Bagan, fielding under-19 players, enthralled the crowd with excellent passes. They threatened the rival defence time and again and in the 25th minute, they were awarded a penalty kick following an obstruction in the defence. Malswan Tluanga made no mistake in converting it (1-0).

The Kolkata strikers continued to make raids and in the 45th minute, the hardworking Sankar Oraon slotted the ball home off a pass from Tluanga.

In the second half too, it was the same story with the academy boys dictating terms. A defence lapse saw striker Tluanga netting his second and team's third goal to seal the fate of the up boys 3-0.

''With two Kolkata teams (East Bengal Colts and Mohd. Sporting) falling at the first hurdle, we had an extra responsibility to keep the Kolkata flag flying. I am glad that our boys shouldered the responsibility very well,'' said an elated Jahar Das.

All the academy players hail from Durgapur, 150 km from Kolkata.
