Jockey gets 14 days judicial custody for rape

Pune, Sep 11 (UNI) A local court has remanded a city-based jockey, Mallesh Gangaram Narredu (38), to 14 days magisterial custody for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman for the past two years.

Police said the victim, in her complaint, stated that Narredu had developed relations with her since December 2004. He had promised to marry her after divorcing his wife.

Based on the complaint, Narredu was arrested here on Saturday, after winning the race held at the Pune racecourse. They also seized his vehicle in which he allegedly raped her.

Narredu has so far completed 60 classics and won 1,000 races held in all the four metros.

The court delivered its judgement yesterday.
