Jharkhand CM can prove majority in Assembly: BJP
New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party today expressed confidence that the Arjun Munda government in Jharkhand would be able to prove its majority in the state Assembly in the timeframe specified by the state Governor.
BJP Spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad, however, declined to comment on the notices issued to three ministers who had defected to the other side by Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Inderjit Singh Namdhari.
''We feel that a Speaker is empowered to consider and decide on the complaints by the parties against its members. However the matter is before the Apex Court, I don't want to say beyond this,'' he said.
Party sources feel that the incumbent government will be able to prove its majority because the MLAs were not interested in facing an early elections especially when it has not even completed half of its term.
Mr Munda has been asked to prove his majority by September 15.
