Chennai, Sep 11 (UNI) Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo today took exception to the suspension of Superintendent of Police Premkumar who investigated the sensational Sankararaman murder case, in which both the Kanchi Acharyas are the prime accused.

In a statement here, Ms Jayalalithaa alleged that the ruling DMK was using all means to dilute the case, and had utilised the approver to place Mr Premkumar under suspension.

'By using approver Ravi Subramaniam in the case, lodged in prison, the DMK government suspended Mr Premkumar, who had been investigating the case in a forthright manner,'' she charged.

''The suspension of the Investigating Officer is one such attempt (to dilute the case against the seers),'' she added.

Claiming that Tamil Nadu Cooperatives Minister Ko Si Mani had held a long closed-door meeting with Senior Kanchi Acharya Jayendra Saraswathi, Ms Jayalalithaa alleged that the DMK Headquarters Anna Arivalayam was singing the tunes of Kanchi Mutt heads, giving the go-by to the ideals of Dravidian leaders like Periyar and Anna.

The AIADMK leader also flayed Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for allegedly trying to shield his son M K Azhagiri, who was out on bail in former DMK Minister T Kiruttinan murder case.

She said Inspector Marimuthu, the investigating officer in the case, was suspended by foisting cases on him.

However, in the case of former Home Secretary Syed Munir Hoda, the DMK government, though a case had been proved against him, had given the important post of Secretary to the Chief Minister.
