Inter-ministerial team surveys flood-hit areas
Jammu, Sep 11: A nine-member inter-ministerial team from the national capital conducted an extensive survey of flood-hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir to assess the damage caused by torrential rains.
The group would conduct their own independent assessment about the damage caused to various sectors -- agriculture, roads and buildings, educational institutions, health, PHE and irrigation and power.
Union Ministry Of Power Director Anjuli said, ''The team visited the areas affected by the Tawi river -- Nagrota, Sitlee Filtration Plant, Tawi Islands -- besides witnessing the damage caused at Mubarak Mandi and Panjtirthi and visited Akhnoor to assess the the damage caused by rise of waters in the Chenab river.'' She said a report would be submitted to Ministry of Home Affairs Joint Secretary Mitali Sen for further action.
Ms Anjuli said the team would make explicit recommendations about it in their reports and compensation and relief for the affected would be strictly governed by the norms set by the Centre in this regard under the National Calamity Fund.
