Hyderbad, Sep 11 (UNI) Hyderabad and Mumbai were in a commanding position in their quarter-final matches against their respective rivals in the All India Moinuddowlah Gold Cup cricket tournament here today.

After making a creditable total of 328 for seven in their first innings, hosts Hyderabad shot out Tripura for a paltry total of 123 off 46 overs. Pragyan Ojha (4/32) and PIS Reddy (3/36) were the pick of the Hyderabad bowlers.

Hyderabad then declared at the score of 115 for eight wickets in 40 overs, in their second effort. Tushar Saha (3/41) was the pick of the Tripura bowlers. At stumps, Tripura was nine without loss, facing an impossible task of scoring 312 runs in 38 overs to win the match.

In another match, Mumbai was sitting pretty with a 69 run overall lead and 23 overs to go with 10 wickets in hand, against Railways.

The latter managed only a slender 21 run first innings lead.

In the third quarter-final, India Cements batsman S Sarath made a responsible 115 off 188 balls (13x4, 1x6) against TNCA.

Against Karnataka, Ramkumar of Chemplast scored 74 off 109 balls (10x4) and Satish made 60 off 89 balls (8x4) to contribute to a total of 336 all out. Earlier, Karnataka had made 201.
