Farm package in one month: Pawar

Palakkad, Sep 11 (UNI) Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today met leaders of various farmers' organisations and held talks with them on the crisis in the farm sector.

Later talking to mediapersons, he said relief package for the farmers in Kerala would be announced in one month.

Mr Pawar also visited Kallaikulambu colony in Chittur and held talks with paddy, sugarcane and ginger cultivators.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the Centre would finance mini-irrigation projects which are designed to complete in three years.

Kerala Ministers Mullakkara Ratnakaran, C Divakaran, S Sarma and N K Premachandran accompanied Mr Pawar, who was on a three-day visit to the state for an on-the-spot assessment of the problems faced by the farmers.
