Elderly woman murdered for gain
Perambalur, Sep 11 (UNI) In a gruesome incident, an 80-year-old woman was strangled to death by unidentified persons for gain, when she was alone at home in Sangupettai Village in Perambalur District today.
Police said the deceased woman Valliammai was found dead by her neighbours. Gold jewels weighing about 15 sovereigns, worth over Rs one lakh, were missing.
The killers had gained entry into the house early today. Her ears were torn to remove the earrings.
The body was removed to the Government Hospital for post-mortem.
Perambalur police were investigating.
