Copper, nickel fall further on poor demand
Mumbai, Sep 11 (UNI) Copper and nickel prices fell further on poor industrial demand along with London Metal Exchange, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange today said.
In the ferrous segment (per quintal), Copper utensils and brass cuttings declined by Rs 500 each per quintal on sustained heavy selling pressure, while aluminium utensils rose by Rs 100 per quintal on better buying support.
In the non-ferrous category (per quintal), copper wire bars eased by Rs 200 per quintal on increased offers by stockists.
But tin slab went up by Rs three per kg on improved demand, while nickel cathode prices fell by Rs 15 per kg on thin buying support.
Following were the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 37,000, Copper utensils - Rs 32,500, Brass utensils - Rs 22,900, Brass cuttings - Rs 26,000 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 11,000.
Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 41,300, Aluminium ingots - Rs 13,050, Zinc slab - Rs 19,200, Lead ingots - Rs 6,600, Tin slab - Rs 535 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 1,675 (per kg).
