Collector issues warning after five drown in Guj
Anand, Sep 11 (UNI) In view of three incidents of drowning since yesterday, Kheda Collector R R Varsani today issued a warning to people against venturing into water bodies for swimming or bathing for at least three months.
He said the eight rivers that flow through the district are swollen and soil has become quite soft and slippery. ''In view of this, people are advised against going for swimming or bathing in the rivers, rivulets and lakes,'' he said. He also called upon the parents not to let their wards go on picnics to water spots or go to watch flood waters.
While one person died this morning while bathing in a swollen pond at Vathwani village, three youths who had gone on a picnic to Sidhnath Mandir, drowned in the Shedi river yesterday, and in another incident, a cowherd drowned while he was bathing in Vatrak river.
