Bangarappa forecasts mid-term elections
Mysore, Sep 11: Former Karnataka chief minsiter and State Samajawadi Party President S Bangarappa today visualised a mid-term election in the state stating that the fall of the JD(S)-BJP government was imminent.
Talking to newsmen here he said that the present government which he alleged was indulging in widespread corruption would collapse on its own. The very fact that former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda was planning a state wide agitation to galvanise his party is an indication of the impending elections in the state he added.
Alleging that both the present JD(S) and BJP government and the previous Congress led government are responsible for the illegal mining activities in Bellary, he said that his party has collected valuable information about the illegal mining activities in Bellary district and also those responsible for it and would make it public shortly.
Referring to defiant BJP legislator Janardhana Reddy, the former chief minsiter has said that the issue is still not over and it might explode any time resulting in the collapse of the state government.
Mr Bangarappa also said that his party would hold a state level party convention on the 28th of this month at Davanagar and would organise district level meetings in preparation for the elections.
The party would field its candidate once the election commission announced the date of by-election to the Chamundeshwari assembly constituency following resignation of Sidharamaiah who had joined Congress. He said that his party would contest for all the 224 assembly constituencies if the elections were held.
