Woman arrested for suicide attempt

Lucknow, Sep 10 (UNI) A police personnel's wife along with her four children was detained after she tried to immolate herself in front of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha under Hazratganj police station area today.

Ms Pushpa alleged that her husband, posted at Gorakhpur, had been trying to force her into prostitution.She claimed that when she refused, her husband tortured her physically.

The woman had also approached President of State Commission of Women Ranjana Bajpai last week.She further alleged that the policeman also wanted to exploit the modesty of their daughters.

Earlier, Pushpa had warned of committing suicide before the Vidhan Sabha if stringent action was not taken against her husband.

The arrest was made after she tried to immolate herself and her children.

The SSP, Lucknow has ordered investigations into the allegations.
