VTU releases primer on CAD drawing
Bangalore, Sep 10 (UNI) The Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) of Karnataka launched its first publication, a manual on computer aided engineering drawing.
The primer would facilitate learning of Computer aided engineering in colleges across the state.
Launching the book yesterday, former Scientific Advisor to Prime Minsiter, V K Aatre highlighted the need for modernising engineering curricula in the country and said the country should enhance quality of engineering education to meet the growing needs of the industry.
Despite the country producing a large number of engineers, their quantity was still insufficient to keep pace with the demand, he added.
An expert panel, with more than 100 years of teaching experience put together, had worked together to author the manual which facilitated the implementation of a programme to introduce compter aided engineering drawing as the standard mode of engineering graphics, replacing the traditional manual drafting.
VTU Vice Chancellor Balaveera Reddy said the initiative was taken up by VTU to equip engineering students with knowledge and skills so that they in turn add more value to the country's manufacturing industry. The book was brought out in collaboration with UGS, a leading global provider of product life cycle management software and services.
