Vehicle lifters' gang busted

Bhopal, Sep 10 (UNI) A vehicle lifters' gang was busted with the arrest of three people in the state capital and recovery of 10 vehicles from various places, police said today.

Superintendent of Police Anant Kumar Singh told reporters here that three people -- including gang chieftain Shakeel Khan, Shan Mohammed alias Shanu and Syed Khan -- were arrested.

The trio were moving around on a motorcycle when police grew suspicious and intercepted them. On interrogation, they confessed to lifting more than 10 vehicles from across Bhopal and Sagar.

Seized vehicles included nine Hero Hondas and one Boxer bike.

Shakeel, who worked as a mechanic, used to sell vehicles in rural areas by changing number plates of stolen vehicles.

The group had tried to sell two vehicles in Gotegaon and Raheli Makronia for Rs 5,000 and Rs 8,000 respectively but failed due to absecne of proper documents.
