Three Pakistani among five militants killed in J

Srinagar, Sep 10 (UNI) Five militants, including three Pakistanis, a security personnel and two civilians were killed while troops rescued two people taken hostage by an ultra in Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours, a police spokesman said today.

He said two Pakistani militants of the banned Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed by security forces and the Jammu and Kashmir Police in a joint operation at Kasblari sector in Mendhar area of Poonch district in Jammu region yesterday.

Two security personnel also sustained injuries in the gun-battle.

One of the militants was identified as Saif-ur-Rehman.

The spokesman said two AK rifles, six magazines, one pistol, 36 rounds, one wireless set and one satellite phone were seized from the encounter site.

Security forces killed a militant, Abu Khalid from Charkote in Pakistan, in an encounter at Manthori sector in Doda district of Jammu region last evening.

A security personnel also laid down his life in the gunfight, he said, adding one AK rifle, two magazines, one hand grenade and one pouch were seized from the possession of the slain ultra.
