Three arrested for murdering businessman

Pondicherry, Sep 10 (UNI) Pondicherry police arrested three persons in connection with yesterday's murder of a cell phone businessman here.

Addressing a news conference Superintendent of Police (North) Ramesh Kandan said A Karthik (22), S Manikandan (24) and K Guna alias Gunasekeran were the culprits arrested.

He said Karthik and Iyyappan were friends and Karthik gave his mother's ornaments to pledge and get money for Iyyappan.

However, Iyyappan failed to retrieve it.

Meanwhile, Karthik was pressurised by his family to get back the ornaments. The friends had a verbal duel when Karthik demnaded the ornament.

Following this, Karthik along with his friends Manikandan and Guna went to the residence of Iyyappan yesterday and told him that the money was ready and he should accompany them to recover the ornaments. Iyyappan was hacked to death enroute.
