Six gurukulams to be set up in AP

Visakhapatnam, Sep 10 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Council chairman K C Reddy today said the proposed six tech-gurukulams (sainik schools) was aimed at bringing parity between urban students and their counterparts in rural areas.

Speaking to mediapersons here along with Raj Reddy, Professor of Carnegie Mellon University in the United States, he said the proposed gurukulams would start functioning within two months.

Mr Reddy said the candidates would have to stay in the gurukulam for pursuing one-year full time diploma course. The training would be on the lines of sainik schools and the students would have to follow a strict schedule from 0600 hrs to 2200 hrs.

While one gurukulam would be set up in Tagarapuvalasa in the city under the Andhra University, the remaining would be establsihed in Hyderabad, Warangal, Kuppam, Anathapur and Srisailam, he added.
