Rs one crore ganja seized

Kohima, Sep 10 (UNI) In a major haul, Kohima police recovered 2000 kg of contraband ganja from a truck and arrested two people in this connecttioin.

Official sources today said the truck, laden with the contraband, defied police frisking and sped towards Kohima at the Khuzama check gate at Nagaland-Manipur inter-state boundary.

But, Khuzama police gave a hot chase and intercepted it at Phesema village. After searching the truck, police recovered the contraband from a hidden chamber.

On preliminary interrogation, the arrested persons confessed yesterday that the contraband was loaded at Imphal and was heading for Khatkhati in Karbi Anglong district of Asom.

Further investigation is on to apprehend the smuggling gang, sources said.
