Newly wed couple commit suicide as parents object to marriage

Tirupati, Sep 10 (UNI) A newly-married couple committed suicide consuming poison in a private lodge here today.

Police said here the couple from Nellore had booked a room in the lodge two days back. Yesterday, when the room boy came went in to clean the room, he did not get any response even after knocking at the door several times.

The hotel authorities immediately informed the police, who rushed to the spot and broke the door open.

The couple was found dead on the bed, police added.

The deceased were identified as Chaitanya alias Gopi (31) and Thiruveni (21).They were married at Tirumala, after having darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala.

The couple took the extreme step as their parents objected to the marriage, police added.
