Man promising ration cards, widow allowance arrested

Surat, Sep 10 (UNI) Crime Branch sleuths have arrested a man who allegedly cheated women by promising them widow allowance certificates and ration cards.

The accused, Jairam Solanki, was operating through an organisation named 'Bapu Mahatma Vicharadhara Samiti', police said.

A group of women had approached the DCB with complaints that Solanki had collected Rs 100 to Rs 200 from each of them and promised that they will get widow allowance certificates and ration cards in return but later duped them.

Acting on their complaints, the DCB arrested him yesterday, police added.
