Jhanu creats world record in Compound round

Jamshedpur, Sep 10 (UNI) Ace archer Jhanu Hansdah created a new world record in women's compound round category, shattering the previous record of USA's Jemievan Natta on the second day of the three-day selection trial for Indian team being held here.

The golden girl from Jharkhand scored 1405 points bettering Natta's previous record of 1402 points, scored in the world championship in February this year at Kolarado in the US.

Jhanu also crossed 1390 mark of Indian record on Friday.

The other highlight of the day was another national record by Arjuna awradee Tarundeep Rai in 90 meter category of men.

Tarundeep scored 322 points bettering the previous records of 318 scored by Limbaram (1993),Sumoi Murmu (2000) and Jayanta Talukdar (2006).

In the women's section Arjuna awardee Dola Banerjee scored 1332 points followed by Chekrovolu Swuro (1330) and Reena Kumari (1330).

In the men's section Taurndeep topped the score board with 1352 while Mangal Singh and Jayanta Talukdar scored 1350 and 1341 points respectively.
