Explosives recovered from house, woman arrested

Udupi, Karnataka, Sep 10 (UNI) The Karkala police have seized a huge cache of explosives from a house at Jarkal, near here, last night, and arrested the house owner.

Police said that acting on a tip off, they arrested the Tamil Nadu-based woman, Susheela, while she was carrying explosives from Jarkal to Chikkalbettu. Later, they raided her house and seized 1,000 gelatine sticks, 525 detonators and four bundles of fuse wires, illegally stocked in her house.

On interrogation, she admitted that the explosives were meant to be supplied to local stone quarries.
