Discharge from Mettur Dam decreased for irrigation
Tiruchirapalli, Sep 10 (UNI) The discharge of water for irrigation from the Stanley Reservoir at Mettur across river Cauvery was further decreased, last evening as the demand from the farmers of the delta districts was decreasing.
State PWD sources said the discharge was curtailed to 8,000 cusecs from 12,000 cusecs. The inflow into the reservoir was 8,267 cusecs.
Meanwhile, the level in the dam was 111,200 feet this morning as against its full capacity of 120 feet.
From the grand anaicut in Thanjavur district, about 4,119 cusecs of water was let out into river Cauvery, 1.510 cusecs into Vennar, 3,514 cusecs into Grandanaicut canal and 1,014 cusecs into Coleroon river for irrigation purposes.
