Cong panel to plan activities on Satyagraha centenary
New Delhi, Sep 10 (UNI) The Congress will form a committee to plan celebrations to mark completion of 100 years of Satyagraha observed by Mahatma Gandhi for the first time in South Africa on September 11,1906.
The Committee would be formed within a week, AICC General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi told mediapersons here.
Various programmes would be organised in the country throughout the year to mark the occasion, Mr Dwivedi said.
Replying to a question, he conceded that there had been a mistake in declaring the exact date of completion of 100 years of Vande Mataram. He pointed out that even Mr Shanti Bhushan, who conceived the idea of commemorating the 100 years of Vande Mataram, had admitted that he had erred in determining the date.
