Akali, BJP activists burn Arjun effigy

Jalandhar, Sep 10 (UNI) Activists of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) today held protests and burnt Union Human Resources Development Minister Arjun Singh in effigy to protest ''objectionable'' references against Guru Teg Bahadur in a history book published by NCERT.

The demonstrators gathered at the Company Bagh and burnt Mr Singh's effigy amid slogan shouting. They demanded amendment in the book brought out by NCERT for the 12th standard.

Talking to reporters, incharge of BJP's organisational affairs, R P Singh condemned Mr Arjun Singh and said his party would raise the issue in Parliament.
