UPA to speed up consultations with coalition partners

Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 9 (UNI) Union Minister for Rural Development and member of UPA sub-committee on Telangana, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh today said the committee was consulting with its coalition partners to reach a consensus on Telangana.

Speaking to newspersons here, he said the commmittee was considering the opinions of various political parties on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Stating that the Centre was also committed to the development of Telangana region, Dr Singh said the Congress-led UPA government was respecting the sentiments of Telangana people.

NCP, BSP, DMK, PMK and other regional parties had already expressed their stand on the issue, the Minister added.

To a query, Dr Singh said the UPA would not join hands with the BJP, which was supporting for separate statehood for Telangana, to resolve the long pending issue.
