Two women washed away in Ravi River in HP

Chamba, Sep 9 (UNI) Two women were washed away in the turbulent Ravi waters in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, while taking pictures of the Chamera II reserviour today, police sources said.

The women were washed away by the gushing river waters at Bakaini, 20 kms from here, on the Chamba-Bharmaour road at 1530 hrs, while taking pictures of the reserviour.

The sources said despite a warning from the National Hydel Power Corporation (NHPC) guard not to venture close to the river, they were taking pictures close to the river bank when a strong water current washed them away.

Efforts are on to fish out their bodies, which have not yet been recovered till now, the sources said.

The sources said the women are yet to be identified.
